I think that link has been posted before.

As far as my opinion, they pretty much destroyed a once beautiful, elegant coupe, and turned it into a replica.

A moment of silence...,

Well atleast he didnt cut up a hammer or nething. IMO this car shows how talented some people are and that they just need a platform to show their skills be it with cars or other media.

The owner lives around Krakow and from what I heard, is being sued by Mercedes for making this project. If this is true, can you really be sued for making a mercedes out of a mercedes?

Manufacturers have teams of lawyers who's job is to protect the company's loss of income by corporate or product identity defamation. If this guy is going to market his car then they surely can go after him. If he is trying to pass it off as an authentic SLR and it smokes and squeels, they can argue the image can be "damaged". In any case they have the means $$ to suit and a judge will determine the right. I appreciate the craftsmanship but he is duplicating a new design without prior consent from the manufacturer. If he were to create his own design there would be no issue. The bad part about duplication such as done in the kit car industry is that the proportions are changed to suit the base car. That almost always degrades the design.

I'd rather have the real thing than a replica.

Commendable talent went into that construction. But why did he do it? Destroying a nice C126 in the process.

There is something to be said for originality.

Sigh, to each his own. I am sure I am not the only big fan of the C126.

If he enjoys it then that's great! I'd just prefer authenticity over anything else.

And quite frankly, if you can't respect other people's opinions, then you shouldn't even be on this list, Adam.
