Do you know of anybody who offers a supercharger kit for the '96 C36 inline 6? I installed a TRD supercharger on my wife's '98 4Runner and it made an amazing difference with no driveability problems. And all for only $2500 without voiding the factory warranty!
Also, do you have any information from anybody using the Quickchips computer chip upgrade? I am considering it but would like to know from somebody's experience first.
One last question; was traction control standard equipment on the C36? Mine lights up the tyres with ease.

My compliments on your car! The traction control is standard and there is no good way to disable it stock. Your acceleration times are actually better if you never touch the ASR. It takes a few extra tenths to ramp back up the ignition curve and restore full power. Benzmac and I are working on something for a true ASR defeat solution that doesn't cost $1500. In the meantime I would suggest wider/stickier tires.

I doubt you will find any kind of upgrade that will give supercharger kind of gains for $2500 on a C36. I have heard of some people putting a twin turbo kit from a C280 on a C36 but never seen it in person. Expect the kit to run about $7500 plus install, plus any engineering you have to do to make it work right. A NOS kit would deliver the power and the price but I doubt that is what you are looking for.

I have heard both good and bad things about Quickchips. Of course anything you do will void the factory warranty if MB finds out about it. Another mainstream chipmaker for MB is "Superchips". I plan on giving them a try on my 92 500E. It will shred the tires without much provocation bone stock. When I get the chip and the 500E together I will run some dyno and acceleration run tests. Once I have the results of those tests I'll publish them on the site. If you have any other questions or are interested in items mentioned above feel free to post back or email.

I can't help with the firts part of your question. But as for Quickchips, stay away from them. I have only heard bad stories about them. The most I ever got from them personally was a phone call, and I know the guy was full of you know what. Try AutoThority, they are a good chip maker.

Thus far my personal experience with Quickchips has not been stellar. Your story about their behavior only confirms some of the negatives I have heard and experienced.

Adrian, I didn't know Autothority did software for MB? When I have asked them in the past they said they planned to stick with Porsche, BMW, VW, and assorted asians. If they are now doing MB that would be great! When I just looked at their website they didn't have a product list published anymore. Hmmm, may have to give a call Mon...

I could be wrong as for them supporting MB chips, to the public at least. One of the other people who I might have traded my second 16V for a Porsche with is a engineer at AutoThority. He races with Rick Ellinger too. I know they have done things with Rick's 16V, maybe that is just because they race together though. I'll have to check up on that and see.
