One of the only items under the carpet is the cruise control computer. Nothing inside the car could help with performace tuning.
The connection for the oxygen sensor is under the pass. side carpet, maybe it needed replaced?

I hope that that your technician used a Lamda meter to set the fuel mixture after testing the CO. THE COMPUTER likes to control the fuel mixture at an even on-off ratio!!

Unless the technician was testing the exhaust output upstream of the catalitic converter the CO readings were invalid anyway. Only adjust fuel mixture with a Lambda meter.
