1993 500E - Battery Draining

Starter motor was turning over slowly after car would sit 2-3 days. Battery then dropped to point where interior lights would not even come on, after it sat for about 10 days.

Two Questions: (1) Is there a system that is problematic in drawing power on these vehicles? (2) Other than losing settings on clock and radio, is there a problem with installing a shut off switch on the negative ground side of the battery?

Is there a CD player? The Becker (Sony) 10 cd changer is a notorious electrical bleeder.

Thank you. Yes. It's a 6-Disk, and supposed to be stock. I'll look at the brand tonight.

I don't think its a problem with the 6 disc model - the "Becker Silverstone" is the bleeder. see: http://www.mercedesradiorepair.com/

Thank you again. I just checked out that web-site and am trying to contact that shop. Having recharged my battery, I now notice there is no FM reception. Previously, the FM would take 5-10 minutes driving to start getting reception, unless I left the stereo on when turning off the ignition, in which case it would get reception sooner. I had left the stereo switch on during the period when the battery completely drained, thinking the power to it would be interrupted by the ignition switch, and am now wondering whether that is the cause of the battery drain.

I'm now wondering if the two problems are related, and of course what would account for the FM failing.
