500E - declining gas mileage

I have a 92 500E. I drive about 70% on highways (avg 80mph) and 30% around town in terms of miles. Recently, I'm finding that I'm getting around 13-14 mpg, which seems lower than I used to get. I live in Florida, so cold weather isn't a big issue. When I lived in Nevada, I was getting around 16-17 mpg with similar driving habits.

Any ideas on why it would decrease?

Assuming no loss of performance:
1) You are driving faster - speed kills...gas mileage.
2) Tires are underinflated
3) a brake is draging (hard not to notice the heat fade)

Gas mileage

Hi, What about :
_Your air co pulling harder on your engine to cool the car.
_A gas quality not as good as in nevada. In France for instance our gas quality is not up to the german gas quality. But it is cheaper (1euro/liter versus 1.15euro/liter).
_road coating not as soft as in Nevada.
Tell us when you find

Strange

Hmmmm-my first thought was fuel quality, but that's a significant drop. I drive about the same (maybe a tad faster ) and I still manage to pull down 15 or 16 on the highway.

Maybe just a good, old-fashioned tune-up would help; how old are your cvaps & rotors? These cars are notoriously hard on these parts.

Good luck!
