37 mph in a 25 mph zone! But that was just a warning.

Funny thing is, couple weeks later I was doing better than a buck-twenty, slowed down to 95 mph when a cop passed me on the other side of the highway(east bound seperate two lane highway). All he had to do was turn around, but he didn't. No radar detector, here either!

I've just been lucky so far.

I'm an extremely experienced operator. Been a whole three years at the wheel!

Man, you guys are out of control How do they determine if they're going to take you to jail or not? Does it just depend on where you are and who the officer is? I've always wondered about that.

By the way, anyone see that gumball 2000 video. A Ferrari F50 gets clocked at 180. Needless to say, he went to jail

Just depends on the officer's(or officers(plural) in my case ) mood, I guess. Some are power abusive treat you like a criminal for minor violations, others are easy-going and understanding. Staties are generally power abusive, and think the world of themselves.

I may have been going 200 km/h(diesel power mind you), but not this fast!

500E 0-250km/h

Looking on ebay, I notice that the 500E is now in the same price range as an older E55!!!

"Looking on ebay, I notice that the 500E is now in the same price range as an older E55!!!"

The E55 is a good bit quicker and has readily available performance upgrades to take it past 500 hp and make it compete with supercars in acceleration. I couldn't see paying more for the 500E. The 500E's were great but give me an E55 AMG any day!

108 in a 70 zone. I did it in a 91 cutlass supreme, so it felt like I was doing about 190. $548 ticket $50 court cost. I was lucky I didnt go to jail.

just got my first ticket last night. 87 in a 65, with reckless driving for speed only. Hoping to get it taken care of without insurance increase. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Got my first ticket about two months ago on the way to work.. CHP in one of the Camaro's clocked me @ 71 in a 55.. He wrote me up for 65 so it was within the 1-15mph over the limit range and was only $100 or so... Haven't seen the insurance increase yet.

I'm just glad I haven't blown by CHP on one of my quick trips to 140mph and back to the legal limit... There's a longggg [and usually deserted] straight-away on the road home from the office...

Going from the track to the hotel

This was back in 1976 and I was following my friend in his TransAm to the hotel from Roebling Road, a 2.2 mile road course in Savannah, GA. I was in my '70 911S and we were at a sane speed when he hit the off ramp to go from I-16 onto I-95. For some reason he floored it and so did I and the overpass of I-95 blocked our view of the GHP parked across the interstate. He was out of his car but saw us as I know I was doing 115 still in third gear and the ramp was posted at 40 (why?). He turned around and came after us both and asked how about 92 in a 55 to which we smiled and heartily agreed to! No racing or reckless add-ons. Took us both to the local magistrate and the fine in 1976 was only $69....not nowadays for sure!

103mph in a 35 zone. Kawasaki ZX11

(Empty desert road in the middle of nowhere, no traffic, 7:30am)

Got written for "wreckless driving" (automatic loss of license), but argued (in court) that it wasn't reckless, as the conditions were ideal for a high speed run. Further, I was a licensed racer currently competing on the AMA ProAm circuit, and am a licensed MSF Motorcycle Safety Instructor. I was also able to show that my bike was fully race prepped, and was wearing full leathers, back protector, race boots, helmet, etc. I was found guilty of "excessive speed" =$186 fine.

As for cars, haven't received a ticket in 5+ years.

I was in 1991 Mitsh Eclipse GSX (204 HP turbo AWD) with two fiends. We were coming home from Taos to Tucson. It was a wide open two laner in NM. Not a soul in sight (except for the fuzz I guess). I had the cruise set at 90 (that’s as high as the cruise would hold). I got stopped. I know he just guess the speed because the radar did not even blip and there were no lights behind me. He must have seen a white flash and knew I was going faster than 55 or 65 (no idea what the limit was). I knew I was in deep ****. When he asked how fast I was going I paused trying to think of a reply. He said he clocked me at 75. Sounded better than my answer so I went with it. Not sure what the ticket was, I think right around $100

Angry GOt another speeding ticket :(

Going down Krome Ave in Miami, FL... deserted road, where I used to run up and down on motorcycle for about 15 years on wknd.. Telling my g/f how we used to race on that road, crusing at about 80-100mph in my e320.... when all of a sudden blue lights from an FHP coming towards me .... so much for my 15 year stretch .. pulled over, got a ticket for 81 in a 55 ... this was this last friday ....

Last time I had gotten a ticket was like 4 years ago ... ... Car did ride nice at that speed.. guess I will wait for those attorneys to start sending me their ads on the mail now, and get it cleaned

1980. Working as chief mechanic at a Porsche/Ferrari/Audi dealer in SoCal. Every 930 Turbo got a PDI (pre delivery inspection) that included a 150 MPH test run to assure that the vehicle was stable at high speed. We were politely asked to move our high speed tests from the Rose Bowl area out to the less used 210 freeway.

CHP on 210 freeway gave me a ticket for 150 MPH in a 55 zone. At that time speed alone did not support a charge of reckless driving. I explained that I was working instead of just screwing off but it made no difference to him. Several times in the past I had not been cited by other cops when they saw the extra test gauges in the car and my uniform. Being an IMSA crew chief probably helped too.

When we got to court a lawyer friend of mine (and a long time Porsche owner) was sitting as judge pro tem and only winked at me when I came into court. While the CHP was testifing the judge asked him how he knew I was going 150 MPH. He said his speedo was calibrated to 125 MPH and I was pulling away until he red lighted me. The ticket was dismissed due to the fact he had not put down that the speed was estimated instead of by clock. Officer Knight was pissed off.

He was so pissed off that he laid for me and the next time he wrote me for 165 MPH estimated in a 55 zone (max speed limit in those days). He was so angry that he had hiccups while he wrote me up. Although he had my license, he wrote my name on the ticket as David Rusnak, probably because I had on a Rusnak Porsche dealership shirt. The next judge had to dismiss the ticket because of the wrong name

Outside the courtroom he promised me that the next time he would take me to jail for reckless. I promised him I would NEVER again stop for a CHP while on a test drive. We gave each other the finger as we parted. A few weeks later he was transferred to Indio California I was never cited again.

Only other incident worth mentioning was a 150 MPH run near Bakersfield in the rain. I was showing my girlfriend the benefits of night vision goggles (gen III) and had the cruise control set when we passed a CHP who was stopped giving someone else a ticket.
A half hour later we were at a restaraunt near Magic Mountain when he and his partner came in asking who owned the white Porsche parked outside. I owned up to it and his concern was more involved with no headlights than with the speed. He did mention that we were throwing up a 100 foot rooster tail
After a brief demonstration with the night vision goggles he let us go.

The last ticket I got stuck with was in 1982
