Sort of Off-Subject, But Still Cool, IMO

Below is the new Penske 8100 shocks with remote canister compression adjusters. So now I have separate compression and rebound damping adjustments. The setup works very, very well.

Just another pic showing the bottom of the Penske shock and upper spring perch.

Camber Arms to Ship Late This Week,

Jeff

I think a lot of the "car guys" don't know what they're missing with non-adjustable compression and rebound damping. That drives me nuts, when I can tell my shocks need a couple clicks more rebound damping or something, and I can't do anything about it! I guess we're just spoiled with our adjustable-everything Ohlins on the bikes...

i wish i could get any adjustable suspension for the 16v...but no one makes anything close...and the ones that do cost a lot of $$$$$. would be nice to be able to adjust for different tracks and have some adjustability for street.

I will post a pic shortly to show how it goes together.

The sides with the R on them bolt to the hub and the sides with the L bolt to the subframe.

The small diameter end of the Right side insert goes into the hub and the aluminum spacer fits between the hub and the rod end, to provide the correct offset spacing. The Stainless washers go to the otherside of the rod end and stock bolt head rests on these. The washers are there to allow the stock MB bolt to be used. Be sure to put some Blue loctite on the bolts before torqueing the bolts to factory spec.

Pic to follow.

I also had problems trying to find struts for my 190/5.8 that were adjustable. Solved this by using my original struts and replacing the top part of the strut housing to be able to install double adjustable Koni strut inserts. Now I have double adjustable struts that are one inch shorter than OE so the struts won't bottom out on a lowered car. The strut tops of the Koni won't fit the OE retainer so made those also using Carrera Z-car adjustable camber plates. All very simple and within the budget!

All my rear camber arms are 1" swaged aluminum using 1/2" X 5/8" aluminum/teflon heims which hold up well with my 275/40-17 VictoRacer Kumho tires and over 425hp. Shows that the steel ones offered here are very satisfactory for street/track use.

Neil,
Pictures of the front struts or the rear links? Don't know if I can post as I've tried before and they were too large to be accepted. How about I just send them to you as I have your email address?

The diff is on hold again as I had brake failure on one side of my trailer returning from Road Atlanta last weekend so am currently rebuilding both sides and installing new hoses. One wheel cylinder crapped out literally so need a cup and dust seal for the one side and hoses for both sides. The 190 is up on the lift out of the way with the trailer taking up all the remaining space. Soon as the trailer is done, the 190 can go outside and the 400E up on the lift for the installation, Hallelujah! Can't wait for the results!
