Question track tire mix up

Can U run Hoosier tires on front and Toyo RA 1 on rear at same time ? or is this a bad idea ?

Thumbs down IMO

Hey Jimbo...White Lightening almost all done? Good to hear !!

You can do that but you probably won't like the way the car handles...the RA-1 is sorta a beginner track tire while the Hoosier (I assume its the road race compound) is the other end of the spectrum in terms of DOT radials. Slip angles will be different and noticeable I would think, meaning your rear end with the RA-1s would probably let loose earlier.

For consistent feel and predictable handling...go with the same on all 4...just my 2 beans.

Bad idea for the reasons cited...Hoosier has quite a bit more grip than the RA1, and frankly I think it'd be a handful to drive...not how you want to be in your recently-righted ride.

What size, BTW? I might be able to track down a couple of cheap/free Hoosiers for ya.

I'll check into this for you, and let you know what I come up with.

Michael: how about a set of (4) 235/45R17 or (4) 225/45R17 for the wagon; or for the 500E (4) 245/45R17 (or 255/45R17) or just one pair for the front and one pair of 275/40R17 or wider for the rear?

I'd take some wide rears for drag-racing . . .

:-) neil
