Just Curious: Did the 3.6 liter engine start out as the 2.8 or 3.2 liter straight 6 cylinder prior to being bored and stoked out by AMG? Thanks.

Pretty sure a 3.2 because of the 722.3 trans. The 2.8 would have had the 722.4.

Just Curious Again: If someone wanted to swap out their OEM C-Class engine for the 3.6L AMG would they also need the modified ECU Chip from the wrecked C36 AMG? Thanks!

C36 engine is based on the 2.8 and not on the 3.2.

As I recall, the C36 powerplant is a ultra long-stroke(d) 2.8. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the bore was only increased minimally while the stroke was taken out big-time. It would be a good bet to think that if you were putting a C36 engine in your car you would need the engine management software (and perhaps some hardware depending on model/year being converted).
