what can i do to get mor horses from a 3.8 ltr v8 85 380se stock hp is around 150 kinda small for an 8 even though its 3.8 ltrs my 4cyl gets 147 at 2.5 ltrs im not looking for gobbs of power just somthing to eqaul out for the displacement

There really isn't an easy way to get more power from the US version 380. The compression ratio is the culprit...I think those were around 8:1. To get more efficiency you'd need at least 9:1 compression.

Check www.deja.com - on the alt.auto.mercedes newsgroup a 380SL owner named Lee Sharp mentioned modifying this engine. I believe he mentioned polishing intake ports, but I'm not sure. He does a lot of his own work, so I'm not sure whether it would be cost effective to pay to have it done.
