Spent yesterday driving a new C55 AMG!!! Great Little Car!

Spent Thursday in Dallas attending the AMG Challenge. What an awesome event! First class in every way. My instructor was John Paul Jr! The Autocross cars were brand new C55 AMG's, wonderful cars. I feared they would be unbalanced, but were very agile. The fit/finish was great, some nice AMG touches.

It is a normally aspirated 55, but has the 4 big exhaust pipes at the rear like the V8 Kompressors. I was told by the AMG product manager this will be a standard AMG feature (Like all the BMW M's).

Also, drove the E55, SL55, CL55 and S55 in various events and 130MPH on the TMS high bank oval.....got a ride in the back seat of the Maybach at 140MPH !!! 6000LBS of high speed luxury!

I hate you! j/k

So have you driven the C43 and C32 as well? I'd like to hear impressions on all three.

Unfortunately, I have not driven the C32 or C43...(202 class)
This C55 was so much more impressive than the C240 the dealer had given me...fit, finish, handling and POWER!

That car looks a lot nicer now, definitely a worthy opponent to the racy M3

c55

I understand the new C55 is actually a CLK from the bottom of the windshield forward to accomodate the monster under the hood. Was the older w202 C55 in Europe modified in a similar design to accomodate the larger V8 also?

the picture has a "V8 Kompressor" on it, the C55 is NA, so wouldn't that be an E55?

What color?

I will soon be purchasing a C55 and I trying to decide on color. Black being the obvious, were they other colors and how did they look?

The W202 C55 was a special order modified C43. I believe the rear floor was modified to accomodate the new diff with axles and driveshaft. Not quite as drastic as swapping the whole front end like the current C55. In that vein it got me wondering how the C43 was built; was it similar to the C36 that started as a pretty much fully built C280? If so, this would mean the W202 C55 end product was reinCARnated ( ) twice before delivery .

BTW I think the quad exhaust is pretty much overkill; doesn't look too bad on the larger bodies but I think it ruins the smaller body of the C55. To me it's all getting too fadish and I suspect it's going to "date"... IMNSHO. Mind you I wouldn't say no
