For anyone interested, I have just run across a new player in the Mercedes performance field. Stillen, who does many truck and SUV upgrades, now has stainless headers and a Whipple supercharger kit for the ML430. Now if we could convince Stillen to alter his kit to fit a E430 and CLK430 we
could help abolish Bimmers! Their site at Stillen.COM shows pictures but not much technical data. Let's storm them with requests. Just think, a new E430 Sport with the PartsShop E55 suspension kit and a Whipple under the hood should be fun and cost much less then these E55 dealer+$$ cars!! TobiasMB 300SE, 300CE, 190/5.0 |

Sounds like too much fun!!! What do they have for the DOHC cars? Anything for the W124 M119's or the W202 M104's?

I am going to check this out as we speak... The engine in the 320's are all the same now and the 430's are the same (modular engines) with the addition of 2 cylinders. My mind is at work.

I did look at them, and they are very pricey. I do think that there would be no problem in installing this on the v/8 if we could get the tuning numbers or chip.

Tobias MB, don't let the price of the E55 fool you. The actual difference in cost between a 2000 E55 and a E430 with the same factory options is only $9855. That makes the E55 a bargain. Most people will just look at the base prices, $69,800 for the E55 and $52,450 for the E430. The E55 comes fully loaded! When you add the same options found on the E55 to a E430 the price comes to $60,540 and the E55 is $70,395 (prices include Destination). If you buy a E430 Sport instead of an E55 you will have to add/upgrade the following:
1. Stillen/Whipple supercharger (probaly about $4000 - $5000) 2. AMG Headers/4 catalytic converters/rear muffler ($????) 3. AMG 18 inch wheels/tires ($3000) 4. AMG Suspension Kit ($2100) 5. Fenders rolled ($???) 6. Perhaps re-programming of the computer chip ($????) for the supercharger and labor ($????) to install all those goodies. Plus you don't get the AMG two-tone interior, floor mats, shift knob, steering wheel, badges etc. Stillen is also working on performance parts for Mercedes-Benz cars. They are currently building a CLK430 GT race car. I hope that they make some adjustable coilover performance shocks/struts. ------------------
