Get the updated aluminum thermostat housing cover. My plastic one just failed dramatically on my '90 2.0 at autocross recently.

Vice Versa, afaik the aluminum version is listed as the "improved" version and the plastic pn comes up as NLA. I'll find the part number this evening.

Mono wiper cover came in today...
124 824 02 49 looks like it could be a the whole cover in EPC but at just over 2 euros I guess I was a bit hopeful! This is what turned up.
 ...now I'm thinking "bloody hell 2 euros for that"! Oh well onwards and upwards  I also bit the bullet and paid for a new lock cylinder for the driver's door. That has also been fitted. It is smoooooooooooth....

Good news!
The wiring on the engine is almost complete (still can't find where two plugs go but oh well that'll work itself out I guess) so I hot wired the starter and turned the engine over with out messing about with ignition switches etc.
I wanted to make absolutely sure that the spray bar would spray oil in the right places and that the hydraulic lifters would fill up with oil. If you look carefully in the picture you can see fresh pools of oil in the top of the hydraulic lifters - good news that's all coming through properly.
