1972 Mercedes 280SE 4.5

I too also received an email to post here...back in June of 2012 before my wife and I got married, I decided I wanted to have a W108 be our wedding car, but I didnt want to spend more than 500 bucks [ambitious I know]. Ive redone one of these before so I knew what to expect for 500 bucks. I found a candidate in Waynesboro, VA and boy was it a project.

The car sat in a field for 15 years, and the guys backyard for 2 who I bought it from. I rushed to find a vehicle transport, but could only find a dolly, was a interesting trip back, as the front caliper locked, and I was forced to pulled the pads out with only a hub cap puller, tire iron and an eye glasses repair screw driver.

her when i finally got her to my old townhome, still not running.

You can either try it with your computer, (My Windows 7 came with a program called "Paint" that does it), or you can upload then to a site such as Photobucket to resize them.

I can see rust in the pictures. How much does it have? Sitting in a field for 15 years couldn't have been good for it.

I wonder if you would have been better off spending a few grand for a better example that just need minor mechanical work, breaks, tune-up, fluid changes, etc.

Pics? What pics? I don't see any pics. Is this a problem on my end?

Then that's great. We did it for the stories in the end, don't we?

ok, so it was a lot easier for me to upload all photos to facebook since it will already autosize images than edit them and upload them to my FTP account, so here goes, mega photo dump in no particular order with no real descriptions.

got b****ed out by a neighbor at my old townhome about welding in my driveway, so i moved it to my parents house where I had to finish the job in the backyard

started to rain

ok, so....i know im going to catch flake for the type of rust repair on the rockers, since the rockers were not cut out entirely and only "patch" repaired. Keep in mind i got the car at the end of July for our wedding in October, working a full time job in DC, and spent most of the time getting the car running and driving, which included cleaning out all factory injectors [yes none of the injectors were replaced], redoing the whole fuel system and getting the tank refurbed. Redoing the brake system and redoing all calipers which included splitting all calipers. I actually disassembled the entire fuel pump, re soldered and redid all seals which included separating the housing all together. Being that the car sat in a field, it took almost 3 weeks to rid the car of ants as they were everywhere you could imagine. Collectively, commuting 4-5 hours a day to work, and working on the body after work, the body work was done in a total of about 2.5 weeks.

The car was found randomly and featured on MBUSA's facebook page.

so what you will see next........alot of you will either love, like, be ok with or absolutely hate, banish me, whatever have you. All I have to say for purists and those that dont agree, is the car would have sat to this day and would have gone to a scrap yard if it wasnt for me, so with that in mind, the car was saved, no matter the state its currently in. The car is garage kept, on a side note, all vacuum trees were redone and factory auto locks still work on this car.
