W210 Rusted Jackpoint Repair

The jackpoints on Mercedes seem to be a problematic area for rust. I had to repair rusted jackpoints on my 190D, and now I'm having to do it on the E300.
Both front jackpoints are being addressed on my E300. They were quite rusted and needed replacement. We used a significantly thicker metal, with further reinforcement behind it, than the original which should give me longevity out of this repair. Enjoy.

Before Shots.

Cut out all the bad metal so only nice clean metal is left to work with.

New Metal was welded in. We used the bottom of an industrial socket as the jackpoint now. This is in lieu of having the rubber OEM piece there. The socket goes through the sheet metal and is welded to the frame. SUPER STRONG now.

Nice work, you're making it look easy.
I know I have some of the same repairs in my future with my 190, hopefully I can acquire a cherry shell before it gets out of control.

Panda,
I can't take full credit for this. My body guys are unbelievable. They have done concourse restorations and won awards at Pebble Beach for their show cars.
I'm happy to connect anyone that needs a good resto shop in Chicago.

Thumbs up Jack Point Repair Needed

Hello EdzBenz, any chance you still have that Chicago resto shop connection? The front driver side jack point on my E320 needs some similar work. That was a gorgeous repair. Thanks.
