Ontario Canada - problems with restorations?

Ontario is bringing in new stringent safety inspections on July 1st. So far, we only have to do these when car changes owners or in some cases, if insurance companies request them.

There are many requirements that could be expensive to meet with. One of them relates to body repairs. For example where floor pan hole repairs
Quote:

Repair of holes in the floor of the vehicle due to corrosion perforation is permitted, provided that the hole does not extend into a structural area of the floor, such as seat-belt anchors, seat supports or rocker panels. Edges of the hole prepared for repair must not exceed 200 mm in length or extend within 50 mm of tunnel, rocker, seat-support structure or firewall / bulkhead (see Figure 1). No “pop” rivets, arc welding or flame repair for high strength steel, TIG or MIG stitch welding are permitted.

So what would we do if we wanted to put in a complete floor pan? Seems they don't want to see any welding onto the rocker panels?

Looks like it will be difficult to meet these requirements for restoration projects.

Damn. Nightmare. Very neat welds, lots of flap disks and seam sealer required. Lol.

Right! Cover up the repairs so they can't be seen!

Our cars only get inspected when they change hands, so no problem if we keep car forever, as I seem to be doing :)
