"Saving" a finny

My father in law called me a week ago to tell me he saw a Mercedes on a flat bed tow truck in front of the local scrap metal dealer. When I arrived the car had not been unloaded yet and the paperwork had not been started. The owner of the yard said he'd take 500$ for it and at that moment I bought my first fintail.

Too top it off, since the paper work had not been started the title is clean, and the car is complete. (Just nasty)

This will be a long term project and I will be looking for parts.

To start. I'm already looking for...

- a driver side front apron and core support. To re-do a previous "repair".
- a w108 rearend with the 3.27 differential and disc brakes.
- hood
- grill
- passenger side wing vent.
- euro headlights.

I have a spare 617 already mated too a 4 speed manual. That setup will be going into this. So the original engine will likely be for sale (or trade) soon. It's condition is unknown.

So anyway.... I'll try to keep this thread updated but I'm not starting any major progress until I have the new title in hand.

PS. I was unable to save the 115 on the flat bed.

Which of the inline engines is this?
I am looking for either a 220 a 230 or at most a 250 with gearbox (preferably MT).

Awesome! Is it a 220? I just saved one of these myself, and like you, I'm going to put an OM617 diesel engine into it, although at some point I will also be converting it into a wagon, because I have a fintail wagon that's completely rusted out at the lower half.
