May have actually found the cause of the vibrations. Swapped the tranny mount and took it down the road and while better still it had vibrations at speed. Lifted the car and put only the rear on jack stands. Vibration was still there and it looked like the driveshaft was not spinning true. Shut it off got under it to check my marks and when I spun the driveshaft it made a significant clunk, I don't recall that but after looking it has to have been doing it the entire time. kept twisting it and watching and noticed the universal joint has a fair amount of play with one end showing the most movement. We have an old school driveshaft place close by that built me a custom driveshaft before so It may be coming out to let them get it right.

Is the play in the universal joint in the direction that the the driveshaft rotates? If yes, that is a very worn universal joint. May not want to drive it at all like that.

The play can also be in the flex disc(s), what is their condition?

What is the condition of the center support hanger and bearing? They fail often from age.

Keep up the great work and good luck!!!

Thank you it is getting closer. I have been ordering some parts from Europe so want it to be solid before bolting on those items.

I have replaced nearly every rubber component now, Center bearing, motor mounts tranny mount etc, all needed to be replaced.
Its not the flex disc, I can see the u joint moving, it is bad and yes that will put the car parked until fixed, don't need it swinging free, I ordered a new u joint without checking, It looks like these are not serviceable.
Anyone got a good driveshaft?
I may still take this one to the driveshaft shop this week and let them deal with it.

The u-joints can be replaced, it is held in differently than some i.e., no clips. Requires a specialist. Had mine done YEARS ago and don't recall the shop. A search on the net under Mercedes driveshaft rebuilding should prove fruitful.

Good luck!!!

Driveshaft was dropped off to the pro's. Hoping this solves the vibration, with it and all new mounts hoping for a smooth ride, ironically it did ride smooth at certain speeds which is shocking based on the play in the joint.

Repaired the Vacuum T I broke messing with the engine mounts.
Also replaced all the vacuum lines in the drivers door but still no locks. Been in each door and everything looks good.
The switch in the drivers door appears to work. Pulled it out and and left the main vacuum feed hooked up and as I moved the switch in and out the vacuum moves to the two outers lines.

Guess I will put a vacuum tester on it and see where my leaks are. My shut off from the key is actually quicker than before, it would allow a second or two before shut off, now it is instant.

Happy to report this thing rides like a tank now in a good way. No vibrations at any speed, actually fairly quiet in the cabin going down the road. No horn rattling, glass in gauges are quiet now.
Shifts are smoother which makes sense with the condition of the ujoint before.

I felt like it was the driveshaft from the go just missed the u joint and thought I had put the two together misaligned.
Wife even commented how well it went down the road now.

I can feel good about one thing. I noticed no new weights on it and the driveline guy said, nope we put it back to your marks and it spun perfect so we didn't have to add anything to it.

One U-Joint, they used the Mercedes U joint like advertised here, it didn't have a Zerk Fitting.

200 out the door.

Thanks. I pulled my to do list and there have been 42 items restored or replaced so far. From a trip to the scrap yard it surely is a good driver, glad it didn't end up there.

I found a bad actuator at the fuel lid. Bypassed it and the locks now work. Still must have a slow leak as they don't work if the car sits for a couple of hours.

Thinking of an order to coco mats. Already have some parts coming from across the pound.

Still hoping for a W123 Wagon.

You may be aware but just in case...that has an oil reservoir that should be checked on the injection pump.

Keep it on the road!!!

Did not, where is it?Assume it is the bolt behind the altitude adjustment.
Car is dry now fuel/oil related but don't want to ignore any maintenance items.

Vacuum appears to have a leak as if it sits a couple hours the locks do not work.
