Why is my 85 W126 such a hard ride?

Hi
I have a diesel model but i posted here rather than diesel discussion as i dont think my question is specific to diesels.

Im restoring an 85 300 SDL (or at least that s what i think it is depending on which VIN research site you believe) and i have noticed that the ride is really hard. It actually feels as though there's really no suspension and every little bump you feel really hard.

What am i missing? Are the shocks worn out?

The wheels i have on it are 15 inch 205 x 65s

I was thinkin maybe of gettting 75s. Has anyone done that ?

thanks for your cooperation

MJ in Morocco.

Does it have hydraulic self-leveling rear suspension?

What tire pressures do you use?

No, no SLS. For the tyres, i think 2.3 or 32 bar

Two things I think of are seized shocks or completely worn out shocks.

Perhaps you meant 2.3 bar or 33.4 psi

If you open your fuel cap door you'll see it says 28psi front
30psi rear for normal load.

I know. I saw those recommended pressures but it still seems a hard ride wher you feel every small bump. I think i have answered my own question in that it has to be the shocks. they might be the original ones and have had their day.
thanks

Not sure if the 126 has a front subframe. But if it does the subframe bushings may be worn. I know the 126 has a rear subframe and those bushing may be worn. As far as the shocks my 107 calls for Bilistein comforts in the rear and HD up front. When I put in HD's in the rear the ride was significantly harder. There OK if your into that.
