I had the same issue on an 87 300d. Ended up...

I had the same issue on an 87 300d. Ended up being a clogged catalytic converter.

Cleaned it out and turbo works fine. Engine needs to breathe.

I had an 80 Dasher diesel. Same engine.
It's a converted gas engine. Not built strong like a Mercedes.
Has a timing belt, interference engine. I believe it has 46hp.
Needs a 5spd. AC really bogs...
