240d manual shifting

When I got the car the PO said it had a lite "grind" going into second... If I go slow and don't wrap up the RPM I can get it into 2nd gear and "spirited" shifting is out the door... My question is.....

I did my 240D 2 weekends ago, I just dropped the rear rubber mounts and the mid rubber mount and supported the rest of the exhaust..it moved out of the way easily with having to do a total removal.

With the help of two great friends the 3.69 is out and the 3.07 is in.. Also did all new CV shafts all new seals in diff.. The 300TD is SO MUCH HAPPIER AT HIGHWAY SPEED!! We can actually hear...

Yup making a list of the bushings.. I used Derlin on my vw rabbit truck.. Loved it so will probably stick with that.... On another note hot the rear diff swap done today so I now have a 3.69 ready...

Any special tips on changing the fluid on a 81 240d 4spd, done several on the vehicle makes but this will be the first Benz 4spd.

Anyone ever tried making the shifter surround out of the ABS plastic sheets... I need one for my 240D manual.. PO cut a hole and installed another cigarette lighter... Mine just has the shifter hole...

Valve adjustment!!!

HOLY COW!!

Did my first diesel valve adjustment today on this 300TD.

Almost all of the intake valves were REALLY loose, . 008-.012

Exhaust valves were better, but still loose.

Car idles...
