I do not know which controller sent the code, may have been the AAM or the Engine control module, but I did look up the code and it says "no communication with the trans control module...

Do not buy a 98 ML. It is the most miserable problem laden P.O.S. I have ever owned. The newer models have worked out some of the problems but the '98 is just bad.

I read somewhere on this forum that the Bosch +2 platinum plugs were not a particularly good spark plug, designed for longevity and not for performance, and that copper core plugs are actually better...

Yes. My ML 320 harmonic balancer failed at 79,000 mi. Started to grind its way through the block. Replaced the balancer but now it leaks oil. Thanks Mercedes.
