Not hard at all JCD. Take out the radiator, easier this way and with screwdriver carefully lift up the metal tabs that holds the top on. Then take out the old gasket and cleaned out the furrow good...

Should hold up well Kerry, its just like it was before with the top plastic, shows no sign of leaks or dampness around it. Taking it out of the car and clamping it seems to work best that way you can...

I agree with both of you in the plastic part (that to me is an important piece) and the repair of the old ones. It was so brittle where the hose connects on that it just crumbled the rest of the way...

Not that I could find but I got the number from Modine, that makes the radiator, when I was trying to buy just the top part. I called them and they asked me for the model and she found it right away...

The top tank on our 300D broke and we were looking at a 3 to 400 dollar fix when doing some internet search we found the outfit that orders from the factory that makes the radiator. They sold us...

Mercedes of Oklahoma City was great! They knew what they were doing(cuts down on labor time) and told us some things we could fix ourselves cheaper than what they could. Very good people there.

Try this again. We bought a 1982 300D and I drove it home 1000 miles with no problems. The tranny started slipping in second gear when it is cold, but now does it when it is warm also. Any sugestions?
