My dadīs C240 with the M112 engine is a model year 2000 and has about 100k miles on it. Because it ran rough and had the CEL on he had changed all coils and plugs about 2 months ago. Everything fine...

On the 2000 E320 it is most likely a dry rubber...

On the 2000 E320 it is most likely a dry rubber piece the steering column runs throuh into the engine well. It is dry due to heat from the exhaust. A little lube there will help. Common on these.
