Well i walked outside to get a cd out of my e190 and the trunk star is GONE!

I just got htis c230 '98 and the cd changer is having some problem. I have two magazines. When I put one in, it always jams, so I have to open up the changer and push the cd back in to the magazine....

after further investigation me and my roomate found that the ground wire was not connected , lukily nothing else was hurt. The system should work as stated above with no ground? Just wondering.
