I'm in total agreement.

I've driven a few of 90's SD's when my Dad was searching for one. The level of refinement (as far acceleration,smoke and smoothness, etc) was almost "undiesel like" (I do mean that as a complement)....

Lack Of Voltage. I had the EXACT symptoms in our SD recently. Turns out that the negative battery terminal was corroded. I cleaned the terminals and haven't had the problem since. :):)
