pry the trim out of the middle of the inboard...
pry the trim out of the middle of the inboard handle, inside that is a circlip, which allows it to some off, then the outboard handle slides off.

It was for the tow sensor- these were a problem-...
It was for the tow sensor- these were a problem- people don't like the alarm going off for no reason. The fix was to remove it..although usually, it was left in and just unplugged.

Call your dealer- the cluster will get replaced- the campaign hasn't been announced yet, but it's coming, seems the feds thought not being able to read your speed might be a safety concern!!
