How much of the reverse clutch could be worn out at 78 K miles? I would remove the transmission to find out what the problem is for sure. It's not that difficult to Remove it, even up on jackstands....

Disconnect the wires from the monovalve and it should go into a "Default" mode, always hot with open valve and hot coolant flowing through the heater core, if this works than the CCU is faulty. Or...

Yes ,the copper washer is for the filter bolt , and I think the copper crush ring you are refering to is for the oil pan drain plug, Although it has been years since I have seen one in my oil filter...

Misfiring all of a sudden, is usualy an electical issue, have you checked the coil and coil wire and the distributor cap and rotor for cracks, also the fuel pump buzzing sound is normal.
