CDI Engine Oil initial change

Questions re: 2008 GL320CDI:

I've always heard that it is a good idea (at least in the good old days) to change oil at 1000 miles (after break-in). Nothing in manual about it of course (10k first...

Could be your engine mounts have collapsed enough to allow the engine to drop and allow the fan to make contact with the shroud. I have seen it before. I would check the mounts for collapse.

Thanks.

Great info. I have the amer. spec. lights and will probably just go with the Hellas and 55w/60w to be safe. Also, thanks for the info on the flasher. I've been spending a lot of time down there...

As long as you are sucking out everything out of the bottom of the case, I don't believe it makes much difference except that the oil flows better warm. Most of the particulates get sucked up from...

I have had a couple and the Motive Products one is the best. It will hold hold an entire crank case full without emptying midway and is leak proof. My others have ended up leaking.

Engine/IP repair cost factor issue.

On old MB Diesels, where I live, you can usually get a used replacement engine attached to a decent rust free body for $600.00 to $1,500.00 so there is not a lot of downside risk in my mind. I guess...

Why burn WMO?

Because for high miler frequent changers, a lot of time and space is wasted recycling oil. I change every 2500 miles and last time I went to the recycler, I took about 50 gallons (approx. 2 years...
