Definately the best way to do it. If it did not make it to the pan then blow compressed air into the timing chain bay and help it along. Use a magnet to retrieve it.

Well I managed to get it to move. I sprayed WD40 into it and let it sit. I applied 90PSI to it and it moved! It is moving freely now! But it still seems to need a lot more than 10-15 PSI to make it...

That is news to me! I assumed that it is vacuum actuated as are the door locks etc on the car.
I am not finding any info in my electronic manual for this gadget.

Whats in a brand name?
It was a Behr unit. Behr is the only maker of a radiator for the 300SDL. If you buy a radiator for your SDL with another name on it, that unit was made by behr as well.
