Not reversed that I can tell. Original clamps at the firewall and the 2 hoses are very different.
I was able to get fuel to flow... but it requires a really high vacuum and doesnt flow very fast.

You are likely to find a sheared / mangled...

Early 240D no issue there. but I think later had some vacuum valves based on heat from coolant temperature.
You may need to reconfigure the vacuum system, if so.

see the coiled spring, that forces the tensioner. The design causes the spring clip to wear and fail.
