Okay I remembered that I had a spare ICU and at least for now things seem to be working.. it was either a faulty ICU or simply crusty connections.. can't really be sure which.

It wasn't frozen.. it's just that the oil filter...

It wasn't frozen.. it's just that the oil filter is in the way so I had to simply use an open ended wrench making lots of tiny quarter turns to unthread/rethread the darn thing.

So... replaced the oil and various filters as well as replaced the glow plugs but the car seems to be louder and idles roughly. I guess the next thing to do is to do a valve adjustment.
