I too have had the same symptoms as this but without the dash lights not going. Mine was the Crank Position Sensor. I got from here and put it in. 30 minute job. Problem solved. Worth doing as it was...

I replaced my Bosch plugs with NGK Irridiums....

I replaced my Bosch plugs with NGK Irridiums. Great ! No probs at all. Not certain as to which type they are.

All sorted. On closer inspection noticed that the rotor had been glued up to try and do a quick fix job. Mongreled.

New rotor= Sweet as a nut. Purring again.

She's been threatening for a while now. Then a couple of weeks ago the Mrs was out in it (92 500 SL) and it lost most of its power. In the shed it goes and I pulled the engine shrouds and plug covers...
