FWIW I've had the same issue arise with my '76 300D a couple times now. Bubbles seem to be kinda persistent in these.

Awesome. I'm surprised the seller didn't mention anything about dilithium crystals.

I noticed, though, the seller's feedback is 83 percent positive. I've never seen a lower number on an active...

It's hard to see from those pics, but I don't see rust in the usual places on that car, and the paint is obviously original. And yes, the pinkness will buff right off. Even with a dying engine, I...

Dunno how you feel about bodging yours up with this sort of stuff, but when I switched to pencil plugs I wired mine with a manual GP relay and really like it. I get total control over how much...

Twelve thousand miles?! Yeouch! My understanding is that it's soot load rather than actual molecular breakdown that causes diesels to need more frequent oil changes -- which is why I've never...

If you're replacing the glow plugs anyway, you might want to consider going to the pencil-type plugs. The change they make in cold starting of these cars is nothing short of revolutionary.

Not...

Oh, you MUST drive the 115. They are totally different cars from the 123s. You will probably instantly like one type more than the other -- and even if the one you're looking at is a dog, you'll at...

Well, it sure looks like it was a bubble! Now I have to figure out where a gallon of coolant went over the past few months ... or maybe it just wasn't all the way full when I bought it.

Thanks...

At $4k the bubbling would probably be a deal killer for me. The only way it's possible for paint to bubble is if the corrosion has come through the panel behind it.

Old-school 190D engine longevity

Hi guys, there's something I've been wondering about. I love the style of the old heckfloss fintails -- but wonder about the engine. On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is a stock 5.7-liter Oldsmobile and...

Out with the old ('79 240D), in with the new ('76 300D)

My poor old 240 got torpedoed by a Hyundai Tiburon last week. The insurance people had the cash to me in just a few days, and I replaced it with a W115 ... a little older, a little rustier, but I...

You can totally kill one of these in 100,000 miles and need a rebuild. Just fill it up with 5w30 Pennzoil and change the oil every 10,000 whether it needs it or not. :-) But if it was rebuilt,...

... is this normal? It's the '79 240D. I know there's supposed to be a bit of a delay, but that seems a bit excessive to me and my dad's 300SD is much faster ...

thanks!

I dunno, I think it depends on where the water's getting in. If it's just the trunk, that could be OK.
