After driving and opening the tank cap - air is sucked in.
My assumption is that something is wrong with the ventilation of the tank.

I had two of those old units but they were beyond repair so I looked into different options - in the end I bought the unit from unwired tools. It took about 1/2 day to put it in. It never failed...

Hi bought a new lock assembly - it's for a w116 300 SD Turbodiesel (1980). It came without the black plastic contact switch. See attached picture - item number 8.
