water leak on both the C280 and E320 - what the hell?

After heavy rains my driver side floor board is soaked. I am not talking hurricane force rain but slow and steady for hours.

96 C280 had the problem when I was on an incline but seems dry today...

So i got a bad cat. converter. Sounds likes rocks in the muffler. Had an independent mechanic verify as well.

I have 80,390 on the OD. Production date was 01/01/01. So I am only about 400...

coolant light is coming on intermintenly and I don't have owner's manual. What type of coolant do I need to use to top off?

shop wants $494 dollars for one and I can get one on here for 267.41.

On my other car it is a 5 minute job. How about a 1996 C280? any special tools?

update

Just revisiting this old thread.

I now have 225k on the C280 and never fixed the headgasket. Amazingly it doesn't leak anymore. Even when it did leak, i never had to add oil.

She is still...

normal operating temperature?

Temp guage seems to be between 80 and 100. It is about 60 F today. Does this temp seem normal? Car is running fine but seems the temp is higher than normal.

Stupid question but... I do not have a lift at home so...... if i buy those ramps and drive the front end up can I change the oil with the car at an angle or should i do it flat. Any suggestions...
