Turned out to be a bad fuse. #3 in the fuse compartment on passenger side footwell.
Now my driver's seat won't engage, so it slips back and forth on the track.

You are absolutely correct. You'll have to take your sliding pieces and use them. The moulding is in left and right pieces. Get someone to help you and you can avoid scratching your paint.
