I imagine it could happen either way. They must be built sealed but if there is a hole to let moisture in but no way to drain, you'd have trouble.

Actually I was thinking that that arm would have been designed in the pre computer age.

My 62 fintail weighed less than 3000#, so somehow the benz engineers figured things out pretty well then...
