Iridescent?

Have any of you ever seen these iridescent paint jobs on cars? They appear to change color as your angle of view changes. It's somewhat fascinating, although I doubt I would ever want to have a car...

Is that sort of like British racing green, JJ?

Can't argue with you

Can't argue with you, Go2. That is a fine-looking color for a Mercedes. I really like the Anthracite SEL's and SDL's. They are down right regal looking. Your SL looks very fine with those pentas on...

Very nice, Jim

Yours looks great. I agree with you on the green for British cars. However, I think red and yellow for the Eye-talians, and silver and black for the Germans. Sorry, light blue doesn't do much for me.

I looked at a red one yesterday

I looked at a red one yesterday, but it just seems a bit too much to me. Besides, I always thought driving a red sports car past a cop was like waving a red flag in front of a bull.

BTW, are there...

I see a lot of silver and white SL's but feel like they tend to blend in with the surroundings more, whereas a darker color or a brighter color is obviously more noticeable.

The drawback to being...

Amazing

It does look new. MB's are so classic looking that one in good shape does seem much newer than most other brands of cars do IMO.

Isn't amazing how just taking care of the things you own makes them...

A book?

Thanks, Tom. Can you recommend a book that covers those events, particularly the 1930's and 40's? When the German's decide to spare no expense to build something mechanical, the results usually are...

Nice photo, JJ

JJ, I thought your sig picture might be from an add or something. Nice photography and fantastic looking car.

I agree with you on the other comment. A clean, freshly waxed, and well-cared for car...

Since you mentioned historical references to color . .

I have just begun reading a history/pictoral book on MB's called Silver Star Century. What would you guys say was the definitive MB history? I'm still pretty new to all of this and would like to get...

Are those yours?

Nothing purdier

John, I agree. There's nothing prettier than a highly-polished, black car. I've always been wary of having a red car. You know, all those stories you here about red cars being a cop magnet. They...

Lt Blue and Red

I've always heard that Lt Blue and Red are the two colors most susceptible to fading because of UV absorption. Also heard that red is like a cop magnet for speeding tickets.

Aside from that, I...

What color?

V12, what color is that? It looks sort of like lavender, but it's hard to tell.

I agree, Justin. They all look good. I like yellow, though. I don't recall seeing one in my neck of the woods that...

Your dad?

Is that your dad in that SL600, Justin? That is nice. I, like Henry Ford, am a big fan of black cars in general. I do see a lot of silver ones, though.

What's the best color for an SL?

I've noticed there seem to be a fairly limited range of colors in SL's I see in my area. What do you think looks the best?

What's the rarest color SL you've seen?
