On another note, I just unplugged the harness on my other 300d (w124) and I got 14 or 15 volts on the alternator's big pins (not the harness) as the engine was running.

It's not as easy to reach...

Ok... measured at the Alternator's 2 big pins and...

Ok... measured at the Alternator's 2 big pins and I didn't measure any DC voltage with the engine running with reference to the batteries ground post.
