I think there is a u=joint in the rear instead of a flex disk -- the diff moves on the W108, unlike later models.
Get a tranny mount, too -- why do the job twice?

Drumming only on acceleration? Put a new tranny mount in it. Only takes a few minutes, and it's not expensive ($30). Drumming on acceleration is diagnostic for a bad tranny mount.

Rev limiter is more important on a manual tranny car, where it will stay in whatever gear you put it in. The automatic will upshift, even with the kickdown floored.

Pull the distributor and clean the trigger...
Pull the distributor and clean the trigger points. They get oily and cause intermittant loss of fuel injection, makes the car shake longitudinally, feels like driveshaft or wheel vibration...
