If the wheel bearings are bad, would I feel play in the wheel? If the wheel bearings were going bad, do you think that I would hear a grinding noise when I am going in a straight line?

I will check the pulley/fan idea. I did a search but I turned up nothing.

I checked the wheel bearings by jacking up the car and giving the wheels a shake but I did not feel any play.
