I did a search and it seems as if my relay is working backwards. When the starter is bumped it starts the 3 min. glow. All the threads indicated that the starter signal should end the glow cycle ?

Does anyone know which wire on the relay gets 12 volts to it when the starter is energized to activate the 3 minute timer ? I was thinking about wiring in a push button or toggle switch to activate...

That clears that up. I was thinking my starter had problems. Just a gas engine with a bad exhaust. It was still funny !!
