Can I install a 1998 or 1999 Transmission into my 1997 e300D? I know those years had turbos and mine didnt. Please let me know. Thanks

Can I install a 96 E300D transmission into my 1997 E300D? My 97 is an electronic tranny while the 96 is not. I would think that this may mess with the ECU but really what do I know. Thanks for any...
