Turns out the other car was a 300D, which has, as you know, the 5 cyl engine, so I'm going with just an engine from a wrecker nearby.

Unfortunately, I've had trouble with my '83 240D. My timing chain went, seizing the oil pump, and eventually the camshaft & half a dozen other things on the car.
