Sometimes that flare fitting can be a bugger to start, I have had to do that first then put the two 13mm bolts in.

Use DOT 4 brake fluid and flush your system if possible.

If you haven't checked the clutch master cyl, pull the carpet down up in front of the pedals and feel for brake fluid on the hard line. Then I would just replace the slave and see what happens.

The "gasket" that goes between the clutch slave and bell housing is thick enough to provide a gap to stick the tool in. Sometimes its left out by ham fisted mechanics:rolleyes: so it may not be there.
