I wanted to bump this and add that first gear kickdown and third gear kickdown work fine as well as second below approximately 35 mph. any ideas on this?

In my 300SE, the tranny has been acting kinda funny lately. If you are to accelerate hard normally, at around 40 mph before kickdown, it will downshift into 3rd and if you go into kickdown into 2nd....

the M116 4.2 is not really suited for going above 6000 rpm. it is not M103, M104, or M119 where you could probably go well above redline safely all day. I know M103 will let you pull to 6500 or so...

Update about my car

Today, driving approximately 30 mph, the car stalled while driving over a bridge. This also happened rather recently. The drive belt and drive belt tensioner were just replaced about 3k miles ago....
