Apparently it wasn't the belt tensioner but rather a little shock absorber that connects the engine to he body (I assume it assists the engine mounts).

Once again I have the same problem on my 2000 ML320. The drivers seat rocks a little bit on acceleration.
Sometimes is clunks as well but usually is silent.
