Perhaps the throttle pressure linkage misadjusted or missing. What happens when you manually shift the trans using the shifter lever?

Try a little shot of gasoline or starting fluid i the intake(less than a teasoon) if it still won't fire it's an ignition related problem if it fires and dies it's a fuel related problem.

Carefully inspect all sparkplugs for cracked insulators,They are hard to see but will give you fits!
