My run I did in Tulsa was 21.1@71mph. I did a HUGE smokescreen on the second run. My friends laughed sooo hard because they thought I blew my engine!

This is a stupid question, but when one does a 1/4-mile run, do you just slam the pedal to the metal or is there any sort of technique? In an automatic tranny, that is. I think I'd be nervous about doing that ... not sure why ...

one of my friends from work is taking his 05 GTO to 75-80 (the local dragstrip) tonight and they wanted me to run my coupe as well. like hell! that car aint going anywhere near a track untill its headgasket and turbo have been fixed!

best that car ever did 0-60 was 14.1 secs. never tried it on a qtr mile.

BHD, you ought to bring your SD out to 75-80, the way that pump of yours is tuned, youd have a fair chance of winning some drags.

I did however think about bringing the 560... ehh, maybe after I LEGALLY tag it...and remove the cat.....and remove the muffler....and......

... or that the transmission will just fall out, as the engine compartment reduces to a pit of smoke and rust-dust.

Actually, the tranny is a legitimate concern on my car. The engine seems very healthy (knock on wood), but the trans does hard shift here and there, and isn't the picture of perfect function. I have money set aside for a rebuilt transmission should that need arise, but I'm not going to rush the process.

The pump tuning isn't finished.......I backed it off a tad too far...egt is not getting to max yet accelerating pedal to the metal 0-80 mph. Was too far before...too little now. I need to turn it in 1/4 turn more than now...which will be 1.25 tuns in....I think when I do that I will back off the idle whatever screw (lower left one) out one turn as I found it maxedall the way in....

Heres a question to pose to a injector shop Brandon....if the big one is full load......and the little lower left one is idle delivery....is the one you thought was the right one a mid rpm adjustment? When I was at 2 turns in I felt at full pedal it could go further but half throttle was dumping too much fuel looking at egt....

John....when I am happy with its setting I plan to go there....

Last time I was there I ran mid 12's in a '79 monza spyder I dropped a small block into...around 1986

To say it is a little diffrent than my truck would be an understatment, it is a dodge diesel that runs low 14's at 110mph. Best run of the day for my 83 300d turbo was 20.140 @71.63mph. LOL It definitely needs some bigger injectors or pump tweaks. Total average fuel mileage for the 1000mph trip including 3 hours sitting in traffic in Chicago was 27.5MPG Of course I think I could squezze 30 out of it with some tuning, and maybe slowing down to less than 80-95mph might help too. Hey if your driving an autoban car shouldn't you drive it like one?

Just an update on my 83 om617 powered machine.
This is just a heads up to all you stock TDI guys that like to pick on these old tanks, you better watch out who you line up against now.
First track results indicate just the new pump at very mild settings resulted in a 50% increase in power. My old 1/4 mile was 20.6sec at 68.8mph. With the new pump I ran a 17.0 at 80.5mph. I am happy.

Now, that truely sucks. Cecil County was my home track, but we went to 75-80 a few times a year, Atco, ect... one more bites the dust. Well, I don't have a reason to go to Monrovia again.

Here is a video of a '90 350SDL that I have been driving recently. 0-70 mph on the onramp to Spaulding southbound(before the Portsmouth circle, from Pease tradeport). For those that know the area, it starts off a small climb and then levels off.

Just had 'er up to 105 the other day. Like all 350's, they hit a wall at 110 - 115.

Finally, a video of a genuine 350SDL! And there are many others of my own car(350SD), thanks to putfile.com.

http://media.putfile.com/350SD

How accurate is the speedometer, though? I don't know yet, I need to replace the batteries on my Garmin. 60 came in approximately 11 seconds. This 350 has a virgin ALDA.

This is an example of a 350 in it's prime.
I don't trust 'em, though.

wow, i didnt know people did track times with their mb's, now im curious just to unofficially check mine out. all i can say is, people have pulled up to lights expecting for me to get behind them when the 2 lanes turn into 1, but i beat them off the light in my little old '80 300d. if i have once driven a 240 and cannot fathom me driving that everywhere.
